UNIS – United Nations in Session
The heart of BIS lies in ‘MUN’ing. At BIS ‘MUN’ing is ingrained into the minds of the students right from Middle school. In their ‘Issues’ classes, students debate on important contemporary matters and try to find innovative solutions to these. The culmination of all these discussions happens in Senior school when some of the senior students and ex-students, who are seasoned munners, take full charge, and under the supervision of the teachers, organize UNIS. The entire planning, ideation for Committees and the flow of the sessions is handled by the seniors. Their dedication, commitment, involvement and professionalism are seen in the way every little detail is taken care of, starting from preparing websites, spreadsheet of costs, preparing study guides, country allocations, organising press, along with inducting students into the formal process of munning.
Typically, UNIS takes place over a Saturday-Sunday in July when a lot of senior students are able to give time for this activity.
