Making ATL visible @ BIS

Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL) refer to the learning environments teachers need to generate in order for students to explore a variety of ways of leaning, and to explore different ways to access, construct and study the structure of knowledge.

Teaching with ATL in mind needs to begin with a clear and explicit identification of what types of skills and dispositions are trying to be developed.

This session was an introduction to Approaches to Teaching and Learning (ATL) and aimed to make spread awareness of this concept.

It outlined the following:
- Introduction to ATL
- Teaching with ATL in mind
- How to implement ATL in terms of vision and process
- Creating a suitable learning environment for ATL
- Initial thoughts on integrating ATL in the subject
