In the year 1962, a group of concerned parents set out on an inspiring journey with nothing but a dream: a dream to create a new, exciting and brighter world for their children through an alternate, progressive system of education. There were obstacles, but the passing to establish a new path overcame these, and the Bombay International School was born. BIS is a pioneer in integrated learning, where the curriculum has no boundaries, and children are exposed to a stimulating environment to 'learn by doing'.

The IB Diploma Programme is an academically challenging and balanced programme of education that prepares students for success at university and life beyond.

Since the late 1960s, the IB has:

  • Provided a programme that balances both subject breadth and depth
  • Encouraged international-mindedness in students, starting with a foundation in their own language and culture
  • Developed a positive attitude to learning that prepares students for university education
  • Gained a reputation for its rigorous external assessment, with published global standards, making this a qualification welcomed by universities worldwide
  • Emphasized the holistic development of the student – physically, intellectually, emotionally and ethically.
