With endless five feet long shelves to boast of, the BIS library is more than just a place for borrowing and returning books! It is the hub for several activities – from browsing through books and discussing projects with teachers to quiet study sessions before a class test or review. The shelves are replete with reference material which is a dream for any research project and an array of books that spans the latest in children’s fiction. The library continues to acquire the best and most useful, even as the challenge remains to find the required shelf space.

A professional librarian is assisted by a group of twenty parent volunteers in the day to day functioning of the library. Besides helping children access books of their choice, they plan and conduct activities that lead to more intensive reading, creativity and self-expression.

Online catalogue, internet access, xerox, scanning and printing are among the facilities offered to children in the library.

The BIS Library is an institutional member of the following:

  1. The British council library:

Provides audio visual aids and books for teachers

  1. Shemaroo Library:

Provides educational audio visual aids to the school

  1. Bombay Natural History Society:

The BNHS has a large collection of audio visual aids and books for teachers.  BNHS also organizes various field trips.
