The aims and objectives of the BIS PE - Sports Programme are:
- To promote enjoyment and participation by all children in a wide range of physical activities.
- To help children gain a healthy attitude towards an active way of life, and develop skills
and knowledge to be able to make sound decisions about the use of their leisure time.
- To develop a desire to achieve and maintain a high level of physical fitness and health.
- To inculcate the skills of setting short and long term personal/team goals, and
evaluating the progress
- To introduce skills and lead-up games in a variety of team sports and individual games.
- To assist the students in learning to deal with others and come to a better
understanding of themselves. They are led to understand that physical activities can
provide opportunities for enjoyment, challenge, self-expression and social interaction
- To develop an understanding of the concepts of sportsmanship and team spirit.
- To learn to ‘compete’ and ‘co-operate’ in a balanced and holistic manner
- To encourage students to become involved in the interschool/competitive program and
acquire an understanding of the ‘outside’ world
